An "author" over at Spoild has said that people should not drive cars, and instead ride public transportation. This person is obviously, totally full of shit. For anyone to make such a blanket statement, they should have driven every car ever made in all types of roads and conditions. But, it is clear that this person has never driven a fun car, and possibly not even ever driven a car at all.

Who are you to tell us not to drive a car? Are you me? Do you know what public transportation is around here? Allow me to tell you: you are not one of us, you are not me, and the public transportation here is a sad joke.

If I could hop on a train to work, school or to see my family, I might. But, most likely, I would still choose to drive. I enjoy driving, I love my car, and I love being in control of where I'm going in life.

I shouldn't give thought to people who say such nonsense, but I do. I care because I am passionate about cars and driving. I live for my love of the car, and you can never change that.

I don't think the author meant it to be a blanket statement or I hope it wasn't supposed to be. It was probably poorly worded at best. For a statement like that it should have been expressed as a personal opinion instead it was phrased more like a fact which is just wrong. I made a post earlier just to mess with them a bit but I really didn't care about it, if they don't like cars well that is one less person on the road causing traffic for me.

If it's in-city then I can somewhat side with that author about using public transportation but only if it's safe, reliable, and faster/easier than driving. I do not like operating the clutch in traffic and I'd rather save gas for weekend fun. Also, more people using public transportation instead of driving theoretically means less congestion and pollution. For suburban and less-populated-area commuting, I'd drive a car because there's room for fun.

IF i took public transportation around here. I would probably have to walk 2 miles to the closest bus stop, and it would take probably 45 minutes to get to work, which normally takes 13 minutes....and I live in the "city."

back in my hometown, where i lived 10 years ago, I would still be waiting on public transportation. There still is NONE. Literally, NOTHING.

agree, NYC is the exception. NYC has public transportation that 300M Americans can only dream of. And they think that if you don't take public transportation (no matter where you live) you are just a 1% republican oil baron that murders puppies.

so on that logic we should all live in boarding houses too.

I use public transport when it is convenient to do so. but in my city that's only when I know I'm going to be drinking.
